Kim: The Weaver
I’m Kim, a mom to three amazing kids who joined our family at ages 3 and 5. Each one inspired the heart and personality of the WonderPatch Pals. They are my real life Patchly, Emberly, and Luma.
I’m a lifelong believer in childhood magic and I also know what it feels like to question your worth. I’ve spent a lot of my life watching how the world teaches us to look outside ourselves for validation… and I’ve also seen the incredible strength that grows when we learn to look within.
I created WonderPatch Adventures because I want kids to recognize what’s already inside them – kindness, growth, curiosity, creativity, peace and resilience and peace – the strengths that makes them uniquely powerful. No one can take that away. It’s theirs forever.
I believe every child deserves to feel special as they are – not because of grades, trophies, or how they compare to others – but because they exist, and they bring something unique to the world.
I’m so grateful you’re here. I hope WonderPatch Adventures gives your child a reason to stand a little taller, laugh a little louder, and trust themselves a whole lot more on every adventure ahead.
Katrina: The Knight
I’m Katrina, and I was raised in San Francisco by two amazing parents who taught me how to use my InnerPower. I’ve always been an expressive person who enjoys showing off my unique side and truly embracing everything about who I am.
When I was presented with WonderPatch Adventures, I immediately fell in love with the idea of creating something I personally would’ve benefited from as a child. I struggled with learning differences and often became easily distracted or bored with new tasks, so we made it a priority to design this book in a way that keeps readers fully engaged.
I’ve always loved working with kids and watching them grow. I’ve cared for four-year-olds at church camps and later watched those same students mature through middle school. That passion eventually led me to teach after-school chess for kids.
Through teaching, I have witnessed the many ways children express themselves and have seen the importance this book could bring, even to older kids. I’ve watched my incredible students start off knowing nothing, move past frustration to asking every question they can, and then see a spark in their eyes when they realize they understand and love what they’ve learned.
I hope that with this book, our ‘PatchKid’ readers find that same spark, realize how much potential they have, and grow to love their innerPower as I have.
